Volunteer Work

Washington Coalition for Police Accountability

I work with the WCPA as a public records and data analyst. Part of this work has involved filing dozens of public records requests from agencies throughout the state. Additionally, I’ve been serving on a board for oversight of legislation passed with coordination of the WCPA. We also regularly meet with local and state government officials to ensure WCPA goals are being advanced.

Kaiser Permanente Hospice Care

When people receive a terminal diagnosis and have less than six months to live, they oftentimes want to leave a message for loved ones. Kaiser helps facilitate this by sending people who record videos of patients’ final thoughts. These videos also are played at their own funerals, which can be especially poignant for families. Besides myself, there is only one other professional videographer volunteer working in the greater Seattle area, so if you’d like to offer your services, I can help you get in touch with them.

KBFG 107.3

In 2013 the FCC opened up a section of the FM frequency. The Greater Seattle Area was left to compete for eleven new low-power FM frequencies. With an extraordinary team of North Seattle radio enthusiasts, I spent the next 3 years winning a frequency, creating a non-profit, building a functioning radio station, and developing local programming. Currently helping put shows on the air. And always looking for more content producers if you’ve got a lead.

InvestigateWest

There’s something intoxicating about digging for the truth. InvestigateWest does the world a service by serving as a watchdog on public health, the environment, and government accountability. In order to do this, the organization sifts through thousands of documents to find gold nuggets of information in order to piece together a story. Here are a couple articles I helped research.
